It is snowing outside. Yeah dude, check your window.
The less obvious part is how long the snow will last. As of this moment the storm is creeping northeast. Southwest of us, heavy snow bands are working their way into the Richmond Metro area. Sadly, along with these bands of snow comes a "tongue" of warm air. The area of warm air in the atmosphere can change our precious snow into sleet, freezing rain, or just a plain old mix. These precipitation types will cut down snow totals. Luckily for us it is far to our south at the moment, though it is creeping north.
So with this in mind, if the warmer air stays to our south, snow totals could reach 1 foot for Henrico County by storm's end, but even if the change does happen, we can expect some "wrap-around" snow tomorrow as the storm moves out, possibly giving us another 2-4 inches and giving us the top end of my guess of 8".
